Summer is a fantastic time in Pinzgau. The Hohe Tauern are famous and popular for their fantastic views of the many 3000m peaks and the wonderful hiking tours. Waterfalls, mountain biking and cycling, climbing and many other fun outdoor activities guarantee a vacation full of adventure in nature. And there is also a lot to do in the field of culture.

Here are some tips for a great vacation:

Krimml waterfalls

Sensational: The largest waterfalls in Europe and the fifth largest waterfalls in the world!

The particularly impressive location at the entrance to the valley, the immense amount of water and an extraordinary waterfall height of 380 meters, through three steps, the challenging walk over the various steps, the breathtaking view, all of this makes the Krimml waterfalls an impressive natural spectacle and an absolute must for everyone Visitors to the Pinzgau.

The lower waterfall can be reached in 10-15 minutes from the parking lot. From here begins a 4 km long hiking trail with various viewpoints and platforms, which was created by the Austrian Alpine Association (ÖAV). This makes it possible to get pretty close to this particular natural phenomenon. Be careful: you can get wet!

Ride a mountain bike

The Hohe Tauern National Park is ideal for mountain biking. There are many routes and using Gästehaus Waldrose as a starting point you can make it as difficult or as easy as you want. The Sulzau valley is on our doorstep; You can cycle fairly flat from Zell am See to Krimml. If you want something steeper, the mountain paths and mountain bike trails start almost in our garden. And you are in the middle of the mountains, less than 2 km.

Tauern bike path

This sensational bike tour crosses the entire Hohe Tauern National Park. It starts in Krimml, 6 km away from us and runs approx. 150 m away from us. The Tauern Cycle Path follows the border of the Hohe Tauern along the small river Sulzau in the direction of Zell am See and continues to Carinthia.

Pinzgauer local railway

This local, slow train goes from Krimml to Zell am See and there is a stop within walking distance (no noise!). Fun for a relaxing day in Krimml, Mittersil or Zell am See. The bicycles can be taken along.

Mountain lakes

In the neighborhood you will find many pleasant and very beautiful lakes for swimming, boating, fishing, among others. Blausee in Neukirchen - 3km on foot; Hollersbach swimming lake - 12 min; Durlassboden reservoir - 22 min; The Base in Uttersdorf - 25 minutes Lake Zell - 48 minutes; Tauernmoossee - 1U7min; Weißsee - 1U10min.

For the true enthusiast there is of course the ascent of the Großvenediger. The history of the predecessors of Gästehaus Waldrose is closely connected to this beautiful mountain. The Gasthof Rosentalwirt, the Gasthof Huber and the many other predecessors of the last 200 years were traditionally the starting point for hikes to the Großvenediger. So why not follow in the footsteps of historical predecessors and climb the Großvenediger from the Waldrose guest house? Of course you do need a mountain guide. We can help you. Ask us for the details.

In Mittersill, only about 15-20 minutes away from us, you will find a very nice '18 holes' golf course. The clubhouse is also very nice and has a good restaurant!
